Vikings' 2021 schedule loaded with playoff teams and trio of 2019 Final Four squads

It has been nearly 21 months since the West Valley men's soccer team took the pitch in an official CCCAA fixture. Since that 1-0 NorCal playoff loss at City College of San Francisco on 11/23/19, Coach Gaspar Silveira's Vikings have endured a cancelled fall 2020 season and an unofficial, five-contest spring 2021 itinerary. The Vikings are ready to "go again" with arguably the toughest 2021 schedule in the CCCAA, one that features ten 2019 playoff teams and three of the 2019 CCCAA Final Four teams (Mt. SAC, Foothill and champion Fresno City).

The Vikings open the season with a quintet of scrimmages/exhibitions, including the 2021 Alumni Game, at Dick Schwendinger Field. It gets real in early September with a pair of games at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut against perennial SoCal playoff squads Fullerton (9/3) and Mt. SAC (9/5). The home season kicks off Sept. 9 against Merced.

Other games against 2019 playoff teams include Fresno City (9/11), Folsom Lake (9/18), Napa Valley (9/24), Foothill (10/8), Cańada (10/12), CCSF (10/26), Hartnell (11/5) and the annual derby at De Anza (10/5). NorCal playoffs are 11/20, 11/23 and 11/27, with the state tournament Dec.3-5 at Mt. SAC.
