The West Valley men's water polo team took care of business Wednesday afternoon with a tsunami-like 20-4 capsizing of Cabrillo College in Aptos. Lucas Romaguera put the Vikings (15-1, 2-0 Coast) on the board at 6:38 of the opening quarter. The Seahawks (5-8, 0-2) got the equalizer from Reed Barbour at the 4:19 mark, but didn't score again until the very end of the third quarter.

In between those Cabrillo goals, WVC roared to a 3-1 first quarter lead that exploded to 10-1 at intermission. A Romaguera goal with :40 left in the third gave West Valley a 14-1 advantage. WVC outscored Cabrillo 6-2 in the fourth for the final 20-4 score, the seventh time in 2022 the Vikings have surpassed the 20-goal mark in a contest.

Romaguera finished with a game-high six goals on seven shots, along with two of WVC's 15 steals. Jacob Hatch found the back of the cage four times, while Carlos Zayola had three goals and three steals. Mario Almarza grabbed four steals and finished with two goals. Bendeguz Aubeli and Alec Mortensen also had a pair of goals apiece. Casey Ocallaghan and Wyatt Beymer each played a half in goal and each recorded six saves.
