Eight Vikings land four-year scholarships

One of the most successful groups of water polo players in the storied history of West Valley men's water polo has reaped the rewards of their two years in Saratoga. WVC coach Willo Rodriguez recently announced eight Vikings - Bendeguz Aubeli, Hamish Bonnar, Ante Buzov, Jacob Hatch, Gojko Kapovic, Lucas Romaguera, Kai Seed and Carlos Zayola - have recieved scholarship offers from numerous four-year institutions throughout California. All but Bonnar, who's still weighing his options, have signed letters of intent.

Aubeli and Hatch will be heading to Cal State Fullerton. Aubeli was an All-America 1st Team and Coast Conference and NorCal 2nd Team selection, while Hatch was named to the All-America and Coast Honorable Mention teams.

Buzov and Romaguera have inked with the Titans of UC San Diego. Buzov was the NorCal MVP and was a member of the All-State Tournament team. He and Romaguera were All-America, NorCal and Coast 1st Team selections.

Seed will join two-time NCAA champion Cal in Berkeley. He was the 2022 Coast MVP and Goalkeeper of the Year and was named to the All-State Tournament team. He was an All-America, and NorCal 1st Team honoree.

Kapovic signed with Santa Clara. He was a 1st Team All-America, NorCal and Coast selection. Zayola will head south to Concordia University in Irvine. He was named to the All America 1st Team, NorCal 1st Team and Coast Honorable Mention squads. Bonnar earned Coast Honorable Mention recognition.

The eight Vikings were members of the two-time undefeated Coast Conference and NorCal champions that were the CCCAA state runners-up in both 2021 and 2022.
