Kayla Potter broke open a scoreless defensive battle with a rebound goal in the 60th minute to lift the West Valley women's soccer team to a big 1-0 blanking of Lake Tahoe Community College Friday at Dick Schwendinger Field.

Potter found the back of the net after she slid the ball past Coyote keeper Madeline Costa, just after Costa had stopped a Brianna Valverde shot. Veronica Cook kept LTCC, a 2019 CCCAA final four squad, off the board for the first clean sheet of her collegiate career.

West Valley (2-2-1) hosts three consecutive unbeaten Big 8 Conference sides this week. Folsom Lake (3-0) comes to Saratoga Tuesday (10/14, 3:30 kickoff), followed by American River (2-0) Friday (10/17, 4:00pm) and Sierra (3-0) Sunday (10/19, noon).
