Turning in what may have been the most complete all-around game of the season, the West Valley women's soccer team dominated De Anza in a 2-0 blanking of the Mountain Lions Friday at Dick Schwendinger Field. A stifling defense and an efficient offense lifted the Vikings to a 2-1-0 Coast-South Conference mark, 6-6-1 overall. De Anza fell to 1-4-1, 0-1-0 in the Coast-South.

Kayla Potter posted her third game-winning goal and team-high 10th goal of the season when she converted a Jenny Gonzalez pass in the 36th minute. The 1-0 lead held up until the 83rd minute when Isabella Colet-Ruiz bent in a corner kick past Mountin Lion keeper Sophia Palmerin. Viking keeper Veronica Cook stopped both De Anza shots-on-goal for her third clean sheet of 2021.

WVC hosts Chabot (4-4-2, 1-0-1) Tuesday, Oct. 12 in a key Coast contest. Kickoff is 4:00pm.
