Stellar defense and opportunistic hitting led the West Valley volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-12, 25-19 sweep of Monterey Peninsula Wednesday night in Saratoga. Mapuhola Sekona again paced the stat sheet for the Vikings (10-7, 3-2 Coast-North) with a match-high 15 kills to go along with 11 digs and three service aces. Kayla Keller had a match-high 12 digs, while Elizabeth McGrath posted 16 assists, four digs and a pair of aces, and Audrey Fernandez notched 16 assists and seven digs. The Vikings travel to College of San Mateo Friday (10/19) for a crucial match against the Bulldogs (16-6, 3-2). First serve is 6:30pm.
