Highly-regarded Vikings to be tested early and often

While most teams in most sports start their schedule with a scrimmage or two to work out the kinks and establish lineups and strategy, the West Valley volleyball team hits the court with a schedule that begins on a rugged high note and continues all the way through November.

Coach Armen Zakarian has set up one of the toughest schedules in the CCCAA for his highly-regarded squad, begiing on opening day (8/27) with matches against Shasta and Fresno City. After that, the Vikings head to Stockton for the ultra-competitive San Joaquin Delta Classic (9/10-11), then to Sierra (9/15) and Folsom (9/18) to take on Folsom Lake and the Feather River College Golden Eagles, the 2019 CCCAA state champions.

And then the Coast Conference begins.

Zakarian opens the Coast with three consecutive road matches: Monterey Peninsula (9/29), San Francisco (10/5) and Gavilan (10/8). After a match at UC Santa Cruz (10/12), the Vikings return to Saratoga to face De Anza (10/13). Three of the next four Coast matches are on the road: Ohlone (10/15), Cabrillo (10/22) and Hartnell (10/27), sandwiched around a home contest with College of San Mateo (10/20).

West Valley begins a four-match conference homestand against San Jose City (10/29), followed by MPC (11/3), CCSF (11/5) and Gavilan (11/12). The regular season closes at Gavilan (11/16).
