MVP Tullo joins 5 other Vikings, Zakarian on All-Coast honor roll

When Taylor Tullo was named the CCCWVCA State Player of the Week on September 1, the award turned out to be a prerview of things to come for the Viking outside hitter. Tullo, on Wednesday, was named the Coast-South Conference MVP, heading up six Vikings and Coach Armen Zakarian on the All-Coast list. Frontline mates Katie Kishton and Alina Valenti and setter Sydney Rogers were named to the 1st Team, while libero Kate Blackwell and outside hitter Keilli Voss earned 2nd team honors. Zakarian picked up his 2nd-straight Coach of the Year award.

Tullo has been a big reason West Valley is 19-4 (12-1 Coast-South) and ranked 5th in the state heading into the CCCAA NorCal regional playoffs next week. The 5-10 first-year player from Mountain View topped WVC in the regular season with 303 kills, good for 4th in the CCCAA, and 4.27 kills-per-set. She also had 191 digs, 25 solo blocks and 25 service aces. Rogers leads the state with a gaudy 10.87 assists-per-set. She handed out a team-high 728 assists, and came up with 125 digs in the regular season. Kishton topped the team with 42 aces and was second behind Tullo with 204 kills (2.91 KPS). She was also #2 in digs with 223 (3.19 DPS). Valenti led the Vikings with 37 total blocks and a .416 hitting %, the state's 5th-best. 

Blackwell and Voss headed up the Coast-South 2nd Team. Blackwell anchored the Viking defense with a team-high 261 digs and 3.63 digs-per-set. She also served up 35 aces and handed out 39 assists. Voss was a constant threat at the right pin, as she knocked down 97 kills (1.54 KPS) and had 18 blocks and 32 digs.
