Viking All-American Tullo signs with Hawai'i-Hilo

After one of the most decorated campaigns in West Valley volleyball history, Taylor Tullo has accepted an athletic scholarship to continue her indoor volleyball career at the University of Hawai'i-Hilo, WVC coach Armen Zakarian announced.

Tullo was a big reason West Valley captured its second-straight Coast-South Conference championship and stormed through the CCCAA playoffs, eventually finishing second in the state, the highest finish in program history. The 5-10 outside hitter from Mountain View's St. Francis High School topped WVC in the 28-match season with 364 kills, good for 5th in the CCCAA, and 4.18 kills-per-set. She also had 238 digs, 27 blocks and 30 service aces.

She had a stellar state tournament, leading the Vikings to comeback wins in the quarter and semifinals. Tullo tallied 41 kills, 35 digs, six assists, five service aces and two solo blocks in the three-match tourney. As a result, she was selected to the All-State Tournament, adding to her list of post-season accolades that included AVCA All-America, CCCAA All-State 1st Team, CCCAA All-NorCal, Coast-South MVP, All-Coast 1st Team honors.

Tullo will play for coach Chris Leonard at NCAA D2 Hawai'i-Hilo. The Vulcans were 17-7 in 2021, 14-6 in the Pacific West Conference.

"She is a very well-rounded player with a high volleyball IQ and a great skill set on offense and defense," Leonard recently said of Tullo. "She is an efficient attacker and has great ball control in serve receive and on defense. I look forward to working with her in our gym."
