Defending champion Vikings look to be road warriors again in 2022

Scheduling top opponents on the road turned out to be a key to the CCCAA state championship for coach Erika Vargas's Vikings in 2021. Facing eventual title game opponent Santa Barbara twice in Southern California during the regular season paved the way for a 6-5 win over the Vaqueros in the championship. Vargas and her Vikings, in 2022, will once again be forced to be road warriors if they look to repeat.

After an Aug. 27 date with the WVC alumni, the season gets rolling with two tournament trips to Cuesta College bookending three tourneys and the Coast opener against Ohlone, all at the West Valley Aquatics Center. The Vikings hit the road again in October for the Long Beach Invitational, which will feature the elite of the SoCal teams.

Local NCAA D1's, San Jose State and Santa Clara, come to Saratoga on Oct. 22. The Vikings then take their traditional trip to Santa Barbara Oct. 28-29 for the SBCC Halloween Invitational and at least one contest against the Vaqueros.

November is championship month, as the Vikings will compete in the Coast-North Championships on Nov. 5 and then will battle for berths in the CCCAA NorCal Championships and the CCCAA State Championships later that month.
