West Valley two-sport athlete Elia Dueñas has accepted a scholarship offer to continue her beach volleyball and academic career at NAIA beach volleyball powerhouse Ottawa University in Surprise, AZ. The 5-6 leaper from San Jose's Notre Dame High School was also a member of West Valley's indoor squad, which recently finished as the CCCAA state runnerup and captured back-to-back Coast Conference championships.

Dueñas has teamed with Taylor Tullo in 2022 to complete an undefeated 10-0 Coast schedule, 18-4 overall, as the team enters the Coast Pairs Tournament April 29 in Santa Cruz.

Ottawa plays in the Golden State Athletic Conference under Head Coach Haleigh Carvalho, who has led the Spirit to a 65-21 mark in four seasons. OUAZ won back-to-back NAIA national championships in 2019 and 2021 (there was no championship tournament in 2020).
