Albrecht, Valenti land D1 beach scholarships to WCC rivals

After teaming up for a 18-3 regular season record and a CCCAA Beach Volleyball Individual State Championship berth, Camdyn Albrecht and Alina Valenti have accepted beach scholarships to a pair of NCAA Division 1 rivals in the West Coast Conference. Albrecht has signed with the University of the Pacific in Stickton, while Valenti will join the University of Portland.

Albrecht and Valenti finished 2022 with a 10-2 mark in the Coast Conference and qualified for the state championship tournament with a 21-13, 21-15 win over Feather River's Michelle Ramirez and Nellie Stevenson in the CCCAA NorCals at West Valley in May. Their overall mark in 2022 included a pair of wins over the University of San Francisco and a close loss to Santa Clara University. The pair was named to the All-Coast Conference team.

Both players were members of the 2021 state championship runner-up indoor squad that captured the Coast and NorCal titles. Valenti was an All-Coast 1st team selection.

Portland and UOP are charter members of the West Coast Conference and will battle each other at least twice in 2023. The Pilots are coached by Megan Burton, entering her fourth year, while the Tigers are led by Greg Gibbons, now in his 11th season.
