The West Valley baseball team pounded out ten hits, but it was the Viking pitching staff, led by starter Anthonee Bartholic's six-strikeout, one-hit, outing that lifted WVC to a 7-2 win over Skyline Tuesday in Saratoga. Six doubles, a triple, and seven RBI highlighted the offense for the Vikings (6-5). Bartholic had a strong 4 2/3 innings before giving way to Chris Henell, who got the win, Justin Scanlon and Jared Espinosa. Zach Smits had an RBI triple in the fourth, on his way to a 2-4 afternoon. Hunter Schilperoort ripped a two-run double in the fifth inning, Nate Petrov drove in a run with a two-bagger in the sixth, and Marco Salvetti gave the Vikings some insurance runs in the seventh with a two-run single. Rich Meyers had a two doubles in five at-bats. Skyline starter Aiden Yarwood took the loss. The Vikings and the Trojans (3-9) tangle Thursday (2/22) in San Bruno. First pitch is 2:00pm.
