The West Valley baseball team scored three runs in the top of the 10th to pick up a wild 11-8 Coast Conference win at rival De Anza Thursday afternoon. The Vikings (8-13, 2-3 Coast-Golden Gate) had an 8-6 eighth-inning lead, but the Dons (7-11-1, 2-3) scored single runs in both the eighth and ninth to send it to an extra frame. Steven Grizzle crossed the plate on a passed ball in the top of the tenth, and Jared Reupert and Zach Smits added insurance runs on another passed ball and a wild pitch. Jared Slater, who picked up the win in relief, shut down a De Anza threat in the home half of the inning, setting the Dons down in order after they opened the stanza with a walk and a double. The Vikings and the Dons battle Saturday (3/16) at Valhalla. First pitch is noon.
