The West Valley baseball team sent 13 batters to the plate and scored a season-high eight runs in a monster seventh inning to erase a 6-3 De Anza lead en route to an 11-9 win Saturday at Valhalla. Steven Grizzle and Jared Reupert opened the scoring in the top of the seventh, coming home on a Tyler Jochen throwing error on a Zach Smits grounder to third. Smits would drive in the final out of the inning on a single that scored Reupert, who had doubled. The Vikings (9-13, 3-3 Coast-Golden Gate) were paced by Danny O'Reilly, who finished the day 2-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Reupert was 2-3, Smits 2-5 with an RBI and Nate Petrov laced a two-run single to right in the seventh. Matt Atencio picked up the win in relief, striking out two Dons in a key seventh inning. Starter Jake De Fiore threw five strong innings, striking out four and giving up one run on two hits. West Valley travels to Chabot (9-13, 4-2) Tuesday (3/19) for a 2:30pm tilt against the Gladiators.
