Vikings rout Rams in 2019 finale to claim third in Coast-Golden Gate

The West Valley baseball team closed out the 2019 season with a 13-4 rout of City College of San Francisco Thursday at Valhalla. The Vikings finished with a 12-8 league mark, good for third place in the Coast-Golden Gate Conference and a three-game improvement over the 9-11 record posted in 2018. Mason Mooney was dominant on the mound, holding the Rams scoreless on five hits and tying his season high with 11 strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Erik Ochoa led a 15-hit Viking offense with a 3-4, three RBI outing. Nate Petrov finished the day 2-3 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI, while Kyle Ochoa, Jalen Robinson, Tyler Schrader and Zach Smits each had doubles. Seven sophomores played their final game at Valhalla: Erik Ochoa, Kyle Ochoa, Danny O'Reilly, Nate Petrov, Jake Pao, Matt Reiley and Zach Smits.
