Mason Mooney hurled an 11-hit seven-hitter against Diablo Valley

Mason Mooney twirled an 11-strikeout gem to lift the West Valley baseball team to a 4-2 win over visiting Diablo Valley Friday.
WVC (3-7) captured the "Battle of the Vikings" by grabbing a 4-0 lead and riding Mooney's arm for 8 2/3 innings. Mooney scattered seven hits through nine innings, allowing DVC (2-6) their runs on a trio of wild pitches in the top of the ninth.
Jacob Dressler had a 3-4, 1 RBI outing, while Steven Grizzle finished 3-4 with a double.
West Valley hosts Contra Costa (3-7) today (2/15). First pitch at Valhalla is 1:00pm.
