Jonathan Teschner rips a seventh-inning double against Skyline
The West Valley baseball team outhit Skyline 15-10, but dropped a soggy 9-6 Coast-North contest to the Trojans Tuesday at Valhalla.

The Vikings (11-10, 2-2 Coast-North) were unable to counter a five-run fourth by Skyline (15-4, 3-1), but did make it interesting with two runs in the fifth and seventh and one in the eighth.

Curran Ozawa-Burns and Jonathan Teschner had big days at the plate, as each finished 3-5 and had a hand in all six Viking runs.

Ozawa-Burns put WVC on the board in the first with the first of his two doubles, driving in Teschner, who had reached on a single. Ozawa-Burns ripped his second double in the bottom of the fifth, a screamer off the bottom of the right-center fence that knocked in Teschner and Jared Reupert.

Teschner clubbed his own double in the seventh to drive in Reupert. Steven Grizzle then singled in Teschner to bring the Vikings to within 9-5.

Reupert knocked in Connor Leaverton, who had laced a pinch-hit single and stolen second, to make it 9-6 through eight. A Grizzle double in the ninth kept WVC hopes alive, but a ground out and strike out ended the threat and the game.

Grizzle, Reupert and Kyle Riveron each doubled and logged a pair of hits. Ozawa-Burns was 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI, and Teschner was 3-5 with a double and three runs scored.

WVC hosts Chabot (6-14, 2-2) Thursday at 2:30pm at Valhalla.
