Trent Miyagishima joined Danny Yoshikawa's staff in 2022 and was part of the 2023-24 team that went 33-0 and won a 3CAA state championship.
He previously served as the San Jose State men’s basketball director of operations, a position he held since 2018. Prior to that role, he was appointed as the video coordinator in September 2017. He spent the previous two seasons as the team’s head manager and was involved with the program in various student managerial roles since 2011.
In May 2021, Miyagishima was retained by head coach Tim Miles to continue his duties as the director of basketball operations under the new coaching staff. During his two years under Tim Miles, the Spartans tied a school record of 21 wins and made a postseason appearance in the CBI, while also coaching and developing the 2023 Mountain West Player of the Year, Omari Moore (Toronto Raptors).
As director of operations, Miyagishima’s primary duties included team travel, equipment, academics, scheduling, and marketing.
Miyagishima is a 2017 San José State University graduate with a degree in communication studies. He earned a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University-Irvine in 2020. The native of Woodland Hills, Calif., played varsity basketball in high school at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies. His brother, Tyler, was on the 2017 and 2018 USA Senior National Taekwondo team. He currently resides in San Jose with his fiancée, Tia.
