In a rare Monday non-conference fixture, the West Valley men's soccer team struck for a pair of first half goals for a 2-0 win over Feather River at Dick Schwendinger Field.
Miguel Medina had a big afternoon with a goal and an assist. He fired a shot in a tangle of bodies in front of the Golden Eagle goal that was rebounded by Harnoor Sidhu to give WVC (3-3-0) a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute. At the 61st minute, Medina ripped a shot from the right side of the box that smoked past FRC keeper Jack Cook just inside the right post.
The 2-0 lead held the rest of the way thanks to a stingy Viking defense and keeper Connor Faries. Faries stopped four Golden Eagle shots to pick up his second clean sheet of the season.
West Valley takes on rival Evergreen Valley (2-1-1) Friday (9/23) at 4:00pm at Dick Schwendinger Field. (The game was originally scheduled to be held at Evergreen Valley.)
