Gaspar Silveira has been the leader of the West Valley men’s soccer program since 1992. In those three decades, his teams have been consistently excellent, with numerous conference championships, deep playoff runs, and dozens of All-America, All-State, All-NorCal and All-Coast Conference players and four-year transfers. In this century, since 2000, Silveira's teams have posted only one season under .500 in 24 campaigns.
Since 2017, Silveira's Vikings have posted a 57-32-12 overall record, 38-16-7 in the highly competitive Coast Conference. West Valley won back-to-back Coast-South titles in 2017 and 2018, compiling a 35-5-6 overall mark and going 10-0-3 and 11-1-1 in the Coast and reaching the NorCal finals both years. The 2017 side featured United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-America forward David Chavez, USC All-Region and Coast Goalkeeper of the Year Yannick Lamers and USC All-Region midfielder Bo Antonissen. Lamers earned his 2nd straight Coast Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2018 and was named to the USC All-West Region team. Rodolfo Castro was a 2018 USC All-American and the Coast Conference MVP, while Gerardo Martinez was a USC All-America and All-West Region. Alexis Rincon was the 2018 Coast Midfielder of the Year, while Stefano Rupp was the 2019 Coast Defensive Player of the Year.
Coach Silveira has experience coaching at a variety of different levels including professional, university, junior college, and ODP. He coached in the A-League with the California Jaguars and also helped establish the women’s soccer program at Notre Dame de Namur while serving as Athletic Director.
Gaspar played collegiate soccer at Cal St. University-Chico, where he was one of the team’s leading goal scorers. Coach Silveira holds his Master’s Degree in Physical Education.
