Vikings cap undefeated Coast regular season with 24-6 win at Las Positas

The West Valley men's water polo team overwhelmed Las Positas 24-6 Wednesday in Livermore to capture the Coast Conference regular season title with a perfect 4-0 mark. The Vikings (12-1, 4-0 Coast) now move on to the Coast Conference Championship tournament Nov. 5-6 at the West Valley Aquatics Center, where they'll be looking for their eighth-consecutive postseason crown.

On Wednesday, West Valley was up 8-3 over the Hawks (8-14, 2-2) at the half and then outscored LPC 16-3 after the break. Mario Almarza, Hamish Bonnar and Carlos Zayola had three goals apiece for WVC. Almarza added seven assists and four steals, while Bendeguz Aubeli finished with two goals, two assists and four steals. Starter Kai Seed split time in the cage with Nathaniel Cazares and Casey Ocallaghan, with the trio combining for nine saves, five for Ocallaghan.

The Coast Conference Championships will be Nov. 5-6 at the West Valley Aquatics Center, with games beginning each day at 9:00am.
