
The West Valley softball team battled Coast-South leader San Jose City for seven windblown innings, but came up on the sort end of a 3-1 score against the visiting Jaguars Tuesday. After SJCC put up single runs in the 1st and 2nd, Marissa Diaz made it 2-1 in the 3rd with and RBI single that drove in Maricela Matos. The Jaguars (27-4, 10-1 Coast-South) added an insurance run in the top of the sixth to secure the win. Matos finished the day 2-4, and Alexis Palmon went the distance in the circle, surrendering three runs on 11 hits, while striking out two. West Valley (18-13, 4-8) hosts state #7 Monterey Peninsula (27-3, 9-2) Thursday (4/11) at 3:00pm.
