Viking rally comes up short at Cabrillo

It was too little, too late for the West Valley softball team as they dropped a 3-1 Coast-South game at Cabrillo Tuesday. Viking bats were silent until the sixth when Carinne Peterson drove in Sierra Hillman with the third of back-to-back-to-back singles. The Vikings (18-15, 4-10 Coast-South) spotted the Seahawks (23-11, 8-4) a 3-0 lead in the first and then kept them off the board the rest of the way. Alexis Palmon went the distance in the circle, giving up five hits, walking three and striking out one. Peterson was 2-2 and Hillman was 1-3 with one run scored. West Valley host Hartnell (6-24, 3-9) Thursday (4/18) in a game with crucial playoff implications for the Vikings. First pitch is 3:00pm.
