Laney Gutierrez paced eight Viking scorers with three goals

Laney Gutierrez led eight Viking scorers to pace the West Valley women's soccer team to a dominant 12-0 shutout at De Anza Tuesday. Gutierrez found the back of the net three straight times (63', 72', 75') to close out the game. Nicole Nunes and Payton Stauble had a pair of goals apiece for the Vikings (6-7-1, 3-2 Coast-South), who won their third straight. Jessica Cook and Danielle Wheeler each had a goal and an assist, while Claire Dryden, Sara Prough and Talia Stauble had one goal each. Drew Bozarth and Ayanna Rubio had a pair of assists, and keepers Viviana Reyna Romero and Sophia Ulloa combined to keep De Anza (3-6-1, 0-4-0) of the board. The Vikings host City College of San Francisco (8-5-2, 3-0-2) Oct. 22 at 4:00pm.
