2022 Vikings to battle 15 2021 playoff teams, three state finalists and defending state champion

Coach Jennifer Kerwin just released her 2022 schedule and it is one of the most competitive schedules in the CCCAA. Out of 20 games, 15 are against 2021 playoff teams, including three of the state's four finalists, Cypress, Fresno City and Hartnell, the defending champion.

After opening with two scrimmages, the Vikings open the season at home against Los Medanos on Aug. 30. An annual visit to the New Balance Showcase at Ventura College follows, with contests against SoCal powerhouse Rio Hondo and Ventura. It gets no easier, as WVC heads to Stockton for a battle with 2019 state finalist San Joaquin Delta and then hosts perennial power Cypress two days later.

A three-game stretch against state finalist Fresno and NorCal finalists Lake Tahoe and Folsom Lake close out September. Coast Conference action starts at Foothill on Oct. 4 and ends at Las Positas Nov. 11. A three-fixture home stand against Cañada, Ohlone and Skyline Nov. 1-8 may well decide WVC's playoff destiny.
