Miranda Marquez dominated the Skyline defense with two goals and an assist to fuel the West Valley women's soccer team to a 4-0 win Wednesday at Dick Schwendinger Field. The win kept the Vikings (5-13-0, 3-5-0 Coast-South) in the hunt for a berth the recently-expanded 24-team CCCAA NorCal playoffs.

Marquez opened the scoring in the third minute off a Britcia Juarez assist and then blasted in a shot from 10 yards outside the right side of the box in the 31st minute on a Kylie Love helper. Rachel Sequeira converted an Aida Mercado pass at 67' for her second goal of the season. Jenny Gonzalez closed out the scoring in the 82nd minute off a Marquez assist. Sara Hawkes stopped three Trojan shots to post her second-straight clean sheet win in goal.

West Valley celebrated the commitment and contributions of 11 sophomores - Veronica Cook, Ashley Diaz, Bella Fiorentino, Jenny Gonzalez, Jaden Herrera, Fryda Huizar, Britcia Juarez, April Lopez, Kylie Love, Miranda Marquez and Siddhi Wagh - playing their final game at Dick Schwendinger Field in a pre-game ceremony.

West Valley closes out the regular season Friday, Nov. 11 at Las Positas College (8-6-4, 2-3-3 Coast-North). Kickoff is 3:00pm.
