Playing two of the top NorCal programs on back-to-back days took its toll Wednesday in West Valley's 5-4 loss to Foothill at the West Valley Tennis Complex. After suffering a similar 5-4 fate at City College of San Francisco (6-1, 6-1 Coast) Tuesday, the Vikings (11-3, 7-3) ran into the Owls (6-2, 5-2), who are also battling for the conference crown.
Kristina Gazaryan and Ruth Herrera-Flores won their singles matches, but WVC was unable to pick up a win in either of the crucial doubles matches.
The Vikings head to top-ranked American River (10-0) March 25 for a non-conference contest and then return to Coast competition March 28 at Cañada (2-5, 2-5) WVC closes out the regular season April 1 at home against Chabot (6-5, 4-3). First serve is 2:00pm.
