The West Valley volleyball team earned its third consecutive Coast-South Conference championship with a sweep of visiting Gavilan Friday night. The 25-7, 25-13, 25-22 win was West Valley's eighth straight overall and seventh consecutive in the Coast. The Vikings (12-9, 7-0 Coast-South) have swept six in a row and have dropped only a single set in Coast competition (10/15 @ MPC).

Against the Rams (5-11, 0-7) WVC came out firing on all cylinders. The first set may have been the best WVC has played all year, and set two was nearly as good. Gavilan refused to go away quietly and mounted a seven point lead in set three before WVC rallied for the three-point win to set off a celebration with the large crowd in attendance for the annual Sophomore Celebration.

Alex Franklin paced the stat sheet with a match-high 17 kills, along with a pair of blocks. Kiana Manson hit a torrid .611, connecting on 12 kills on 18 swings. Tristin Sahlie finished with six kills and four blocks, and Sydney Rogers logged 16 assists, four digs and two service aces. Gabrielle Carbonel handed out a match-high 18 assists. Flor Porras came up with 12 digs and an ace, while Brooke Lopez had 10 digs and an ace, and Nunu Saulala had six blocks.
