Celebrating Sophomores: Viking Women's Water Polo

WWP Sophomores

An overall two-year record of 47-16. Never beaten - going 22-0 - in back-to-back Coast Conference championship seasons. Placing 3rd in the state in 2019, an all-time program best, with a 13-7 win over 2018 state champion Sierra. Capturing the 2019 NorCal title with a mirror-image 13-7 win over Sierra. Outscoring opponents 821-236. The 2019 West Valley women's water polo sophomores - Sierra Ceballos, Raquel de Pinho, Emily Fields, Alexis Goldin and Maryam Khatoon - dominated northern California and raised the bar for Viking polo.

The five Vikings also dominated the 2018 and 2019 postseason awards lists. De Pinho, the backup goalkeeper on the Brazilian national team, was the Coast Goalkeeper of the Year in each of her two seasons in Saratoga. In 2019, she was the Coast MVP, and an All-America, All-NorCal and All-Coast 1st Team selection. In 2018, de Pinho was an All-Coast 1st-teamer, an All-NorCal 2nd teamer and an All-America Honorable Mention. Ceballos was named to the 2019 All-Coast 1st Team and was selected to the All-Coast 2nd Team in 2018. Fields earned 2018 All-Coast 2nd Team and 2019 All-Coast Honorable Mention honors, while Goldin earned a spot on the 2019 All-Coast 2nd Team, and Khatoon was a 2019 All-America 1st Team and All-NorCal 2nd Team selection, and a 2018 All-Coast 2nd teamer.  Khatoon was also the Coast Conference swim champion in the 400 Individual Medley and the 200 Butterfly.
